There are four hazards of air in the refrigeration system of industrial chillers

TIME:2022-07-26

Chillers are typically used to cool products and machinery, and are used for various applications, including injection molding, tool and die cutting, food and beverage, chemicals, lasers, machine tools, semiconductors, and more. The function of industrial chillers is to transfer heat from one location (usually processing equipment or products) to another location (usually the air outside the manufacturing factory). Usually, water or water/ethylene glycol solution is used to transfer heat to or from the cooler, which may require process cooling with a reservoir and pumping system.

Industrial chillers are mainly used for cooling plastic granulation machinery, forming and grinding tools. They can greatly improve the surface smoothness of plastic products, reduce surface wrinkles and thermal stress, ensure that the products do not shrink or deform, facilitate the molding of plastic products, accelerate product shaping, and subsequently greatly develop the production and manufacturing output power of plastic forming machines; Applied to CNC lathes, coordinate boring machines, CNC grinding machines, production and processing industrial bases, specialized machine tools, and various detailed lathe spindle cleaning and hydraulic machine management systems, the cooling of the transmission system medium can accurately control the water temperature, reasonably reduce the thermal deformation of CNC lathes, and develop the processing accuracy of CNC lathes.

The components of industrial chillers are mostly made of metal materials, and often after a long period of operation, the presence of air in the refrigeration system can be caused by corrosion of metal materials, decomposition of lubricating oil/refrigerant, and air leakage during operation. The hazards of air in the refrigeration system can be summarized into four points:

1. Directly leading to an increase in condensation pressure, in a condenser with air, the air occupies a certain volume, so it has a certain pressure, and the refrigerant in the condenser also has a certain pressure. The more air in the condenser, the greater its partial pressure, and the total pressure of the condenser naturally increases.

2. Due to the presence of air, the gas layer formed on the heat transfer surface of the condenser increases thermal resistance, thereby reducing the heat transfer efficiency of the condenser. At the same time, due to air entering the data system, the water content in the system increases, which corrodes pipelines and other equipment.

3. Directly increasing the condensation pressure will lead to a decrease in cooling capacity and an increase in power consumption.

4. When encountering oil vapor at high exhaust temperatures, accidents are prone to occur.

If the industrial chiller purchased by the user finds air entering during use, it must be immediately shut down for air removal. Especially for the industrial cold water of the Freon refrigeration system, there is no dedicated air release device.
